The Rivers State Government says three local government areas in the state are under siege by the military and the police.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, SIMEON NWAKAUDU, named the affected local government areas as Gokana, Asari-Toru and Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni.The spokesman for Governor NYESOM WIKE described what happened in the three local government areas as politically motivated vicious attacks.Writing in a release obtained by our correspondent, NWAKAUDU said the raids by the security operatives have left in their trail, tales of death, blood, destruction and open intimidation. He claims that the raids were led by an Army Major who is allegedly sympathetic to the All Progressives Congress, ahead of the re-run of National and State Assemblies elections in designated constituencies in Rivers State. The Government House spokesman however said the resort to intimidation and destruction will not improve the fortune of the APC in Rivers State.
