The resurgence of violent attacks in parts of Rivers State, leading to the loss of lives, is beginning to receive national attention.
The upsurge of killings started in the heat of preparations for re-run elections across the state, after most of the state and national assembly seats won in the 2015 general election were nullified. The opposition All Progressives Congress in Rivers State believes that the violence is politically motivated and the killings are targeted at its members, but the security agencies blamed the killings on cult rivalry. However; a Lagos-based security consultant, Chief ONA EKHOMU has said the time for action is now, to avoid further escalation of the violence.Chief EKHOMU was speaking on a national television programme monitored in Port Harcourt.
