The President of the Nigerian Senate, BUKOLA SARAKI, says a committee has been set up to look into the controversy over the disappearance of the 2016 Budget.Senator SARAKI gave this indication on the resumption of plenary today, adding that the decision to set up the committee was reached during the closed-door session yesterday.Senator SARAKI gave these indications while reacting to a point of order raised by Senator ENYINNAYA ABARIBE of the PDP from Abia State.
Citing Matters of Urgent Public Importance, Senator ABARIBE drew the attention of the Senate to news making the rounds of the alleged disappearance of the Budget document urging, stressing the need for the Senate leadership to clear the air on the matter.In his response, the Senate President said the committee looking into the matter would report to the chamber tomorrow.However; the situation is different at the House of Representatives, where the Speaker, YAKUBU DOGORA, displayed copies of the 2016 Budget during plenary.Reacting to the negative media reports; DOGARA enjoined the media to always verify information with the relevant authorities charged with such reasonability before going public with any issue.
