The premises of the Rivers State Bureau Public Procurement in Port Harcourt was earlier yesterday blocked by protesting workers led by the Association of Senior Civil Servant of Nigeria.
Our correspondent reports that the picketing is in response to what the workers described as tactical disengagement of their members.
The aggrieved workers accused the Director General of the State Bureau of Public Procurement, FRANKLY NLERUM of high-handedness.
The Manager of the Public Affairs at the Bureau, AYEOWUEKE OPUIYO alleged that NLERUM is in the habit of victimizing and intimidating member of staff.
He said NLERUM’s latest show of high-handedness is the suspension of the Head of Human Resources at the Bureau.
All speaking, the Secretary of the Association of Senior Civil Servant of Nigeria, MOHAMMED BASHMAN, accused the DG of the Bureau of Public Procurement of suspending members of staff without regard to the provisions of the Public Service Rule.
However; the Director General of the State Bureau Public Procurement, FRANKLY NLERUM, dismissed the allegation that he was in the habit of victimization of staff.
NLERUM, who spoke in an interview with correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR, directed all the workers to go home, pending the resolution of the industrial dispute.
NLERUM equally denied knowledge that members of staff of the bureau belong  to the Association of Senior Civil Servant of Nigeria.
