CHIJIOKE WISDOM, CHIWENDU ALOZIE, WILFRED JUMBO, IGWE CHIKEZIE and GIFT AMADI allegedly kidnapped late SAMPSON WORLU on his way to Imo State for his National Youth Service Corps programme.The deceased was allegedly taken by his abductors to Elelenwo area of Port Harcourt where he was murdered and buried, after the kidnappers had collected ransom of one million naira from his family.After listening to the charges, Chief Magistrate B. M. F. JAMABO directed that the case file should be sent to Director of Public Prosecution for advice, and adjourned the matter to 27th of May for mention.
You will recall that the Department of State Security Service had arrested the five accused persons on 28th November last year, based on a report by the family of the deceased.Before he was allegedly murdered by the kidnappers, SAMPSON WORLU had completed his Law School training and was called to the Nigerian Bar before proceeding for the NYSC.While the matter was being heard in court yesterday, a group of Youth from Ogbogoro community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area stormed the premises of the State Judiciary in protest over the murder of SAMPSON WORLU.
