The Permanent Secretary of Rivers State Ministry of Health ISAAC SOMIARI has explained the reasons for the failure of the fifteen-story Adulphous Karibi Whyte Hospital project.
While answering questions before the Judicial Commission of Inquiry, SOMIARI said Canadian company, Clinotech Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Incorporated refused to invest sixty percent equity in the project after the Rivers state Government paid its forty percent of 39.2 million US Dollars.
He further explained that the state government terminated the contract and hired another construction company known as Clinotech Turnkey limited and paid another 3.94 billion naira for the project.
The Permanent Secretary said he was disappointed with the state of the project after such amount of money was spent.
Correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that hearing on the matter will continue today.
