The Peoples Democratic Party Rivers State is accusing the APC in the state of politicizing the recent killings in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area.
State Chairman of the PDP, FELIX OBUAH claims the APC was playing the role of a judge in the killings instead of showing concern for the acts of lawlessness in some parts of the state by those he described as hoodlums.According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity: the State PDP Chairman said the APC, through its State Chairman, DAVIES IBIAMU IKANYA, has formed the habit of laying claim to ownership and party membership of victims of violence anywhere in the state.OBUAH said the intention of the APC is to create disaffection between the ruling PDP and the rest of the people. The PDP Chairman was reacting to a statement by his APC counterpart, in which the leadership of the opposition party berated security agencies for ignoring early warning about imminent attacks on its members in ONELGA.Chief DAVIES IBIAMU IKANYA criticised the Nigeria Police for failing woefully to provide security for the people of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, following the killing of twenty-six people last Friday.IKANYA claims that suspected members of the Icelanders cult group invaded Omoku and its environs and picked on selected houses of APC members and murdered some of the occupants. He cited eyewitness accounts revealing that the attack lasted until 10PM, without any response from the police, despite calls for help.
