The People’s Democratic Party has expressed disappointment the inability of the present leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission under MAHMOOD YAKUBU to conduct any conclusive election. In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, OLISA METUH, the PDP wondered how INEC will conduct general election in the country if it could not successfully organise a re-run poll in Rivers State. The PDP said the conduct of the electoral body and security operatives during the Rivers elections last Saturday fell short of the expected standard, given the level of mobilisation and preparedness. It said the nation and the international community should hold INEC, security operatives and the All Progressives Congress responsible for any breakdown of law and order in the state over the non-release of the final results. The Party claimed that the only reason for the seizure of the results is the fact that PDP candidates were in clear and overwhelming victory in all the reruns. The PDP also claimed that Rivers people and all Nigerians are already aware of the results from respective polling centres, wards and local government areas. The party stressed that it will not accept any final result that does not tally with the actual and already established figures from the polling units.
