The Peoples Democratic Party has condemned the invasion of the Akwa Ibom State Government House by operatives of the Department of State Security Service. The PDP said by the action of the DSS under the leadership of LAWAN DAURA, the APC-led Federal Government crossed the line. National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, OLISA METUH said the party will no longer accept the unlawful use of state apparatus of power by the APC-led government to harass elected opposition officials. METUH noted that never in the history of Nigeria’s democracy has there been such a divisive government as the current APC Administration, adding that actions and constitutional violations of the government have polarized the polity along faulty lines.
The PDP spokesman described the DSS’s purported occupation of the Government House in Uyo last Friday as a recipe for constitutional crisis, civil unrest and avoidable anarchy in the land. He also said the PDP has information indicating that similar invasions are being planned for other PDP controlled states of Rivers, Abia, Delta and Taraba. The party said if state governments can be unleashed with such action, it wandered what could happen to regular citizens in the hands of the APC Administration.
