The peace process aimed at resolving the leadership crisis in the Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress has been delayed.
This is because members of the national NLC peace committee who were expected to arrive in Port Harcourt last weekend had to delay their visit because of the death of the union leaders.Following the development, the committee is now expected to arrive next week for the peace talk in Port Harcourt.
Meanwhile, WILLIAMS ADAH, who leads a faction of the NLC in the state, has welcomed the peace process initiated by the national leadership of the NLC.
Speaking in interview with correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA, ADAH said he looks forward to a peaceful resolution of the crisis.Speaking on the recent removal of some staff of primary schools of state-owned tertiary institutions from the payroll of the Rivers State Government; ADAH said the union involved is trying to resolve the matter. Our correspondent gathered that the BEATRICE ITUBO group of the NLC in Rivers Stae has rejected the move by the Rivers State government, and called on the government to reconsider its action.
