The Nigerian Military is preparing for what could be the final onslaught against Boko Haram insurgents within the once dreaded Sambisa Forest.The operation is being led by the General Officer Commanding, Seven Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, Major General VICTOR EZUGWU, who was recently ambushed by Boko Haram terrorists on his way to the frontline of the battle.The Chief of Defence Staff, General ABAYOMI OLONISAKIN confirmed that the Nigerian Army was presently conducting operations in the Sambisa forest to finally clear the area of insurgents.General ABAYOMI OLONISAKIN told journalists in Maiduguri, Borno State that the major clearance operation was already five days gone, and has recorded remarkable success so far.The Defence Chief was in Maiduguri for a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Air Staff at the Military Command and Control Center to appraise the level of troops’ performance in the operation.He said the operation is in five phases, which include rescue operation targeted at anyone that has been abducted by Boko Haram terrorists.
