The National Youth Council of Nigeria has advised Rivers State students in tertiary institutions to stay out of politics and pursue their studies.
State Chairman of the youth council, SUKUBO SARA-IGBE gave the advice when a group of students from the University of Port Harcourt paid a visit to the secretariat of the council in Port Harcourt. The NYCN chairman observed that the controversy tearing the student union apart was because some students have sold themselves to politicians who now influence what happens in their union. He suggested that Student Union Governments should be encouraged in all tertiary institutions across Rivers State to ensure good representation. In his responses, the spokesman for UNIPORT students, WODU GOODNEWS commended the National Youth Council of Nigeria on its efforts to reconciling the students in the face of controversy.
