The Lagos State Government has reinstated the restriction on trailers and articulated vehicles from plying the roads during the daytime. The order now makes it an offence for trailers and articulated vehicles to be seen on the road between the hours of 6AM and 9PM. The move is in response to a series of accidents in the Lagos metropolis involving trailers in recent weeks, including one that fell off the Ojuelegba flyover, killing three persons. The Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Transportation OLUSEYI WHENU said the decision was reached during a meeting with the leadership of the various transport unions in the state. WHENU said the restriction was to ensure strict enforcement of the Road Traffic Law, which is often violated by the trailer drivers.
