The issue of security received prominent mention during the quarterly meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt.

The meeting yesterday presided by the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Ruler and the Amanyanabo of Opobo, King DANDESON JAJA JEKI the Fifth, was the one hundred and third in the series.Governor NYESOM WIKE was also present and he urged traditional rulers to cooperate with law enforcement agents and the state government in efforts to uproot cultists and criminal elements from their various communities.
The Governor said he holds traditional rulers in high esteem, as custodians of customs and traditions of the land, and assured that he would continue to liaise with them in the process of governance.In his remarks, the Amanyanabo of Opobo, King DANDESON JAJA JEKI the Fifth commended the governor for reviving consultations with traditional rulers. The Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Ruler also called on Governor WIKE to consolidate on the gains of security measures, while improving on the welfare of traditional rulers in the state.Also speaking on the sideline of the meeting in Port Harcourt; the EzeOhaOkporo and Paramount Ruler of Mgbesilaro community, Eze EJIKE WALI suggested that property of convicted kidnappers and criminals should be confiscated by the government.Eze EJIKE WALI also observed that efforts to alleviate the suffering of people at the grassroots in Rivers State are beginning to yield results.Our correspondent reports that the meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Ruler was attended by traditional rulers drawn across the twenty-three local government areas.
