An unofficial source is reported to have revealed that the former Immigration boss is being investigated in connection with the 2014 recruitment scandal that lead to the death of sixteen jobseekers in stampedes across various centres. You will recall that applicants for the immigration vacancies were made to pay one thousand naira each as registration fee, which is thought to have fetched the agency over six hundred million naira. It is alleged that the Nigeria Immigration Service was only able to declare forty-five million naira to the authorities.

It was initially reported that the arrest of a wanted Lebanese terrorist suspect, AHMAD AL-ASSIR with a Nigerian visa was the reason for his removal.
