The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is reported to have frozen the personal bank accounts of the Governor of Ekiti State, AYO FAYOSE.

Also affected in the action of the anti-graft agency are some of Governor FAYOSE’s associates.Governor FAYOSE drew public attention to the move against him when he visited the premises of a commercial bank in Ado-Ekiti, after cheques he issued to draw cash from his accounts were rejected by the bank.
Meanwhile, a report quoting an unnamed EFCC official said the anti-graft agency has requested Governor FAYOSE to come forward for clarification over the freezing of his bank accounts.
The EFCC is also reported to have defending the action against the bank accounts of Governor FAYOSE on grounds that there was no law stopping it from investigating suspicious movement of funds through bank accounts.
The EFCC maintains that it has the power to investigate any state governor whose bank account were being used to move funds illegally, despite the constitutional immunity that protect such a person from prosecution.
