Tenure of National Caretaker Committee of the PDP led by Senator AHMED MAKARFI extended by ninety days.

This was the outcome of a make-shift National Convention of the PDP in Port Harcourt today, following two conflicting court judgments, which led to security operatives sealing off the Sharks Stadium that was initially designated as venue of the convention.

Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that a combined team of security personnel are keeping watch around Sharks Stadium in Port Harcourt.

He said the security personnel are drawn from the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Service and the Nigerian military services.

Also; Armored Personnel Carriers and patrol trucks are stationed at strategic locations around Port Harcourt Township, particularly on the adjourning roads leading to Sharks Stadium.

All the main roads around the area have been closed to regular traffic, as residents in the area had to trek to their destinations.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, FRANCIS ODESANYA visited the stadium earlier and told newsmen that the police intervention was based on conflicting court orders.

Meanwhile; Our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that PDP national leaders took turns to address the crowd of party delegates and supporters drawn from across the country at the State secretariat in Port Harcourt.

They also resolved to go ahead with the National Convention, but decided to suspend the aspect on the election of new national officers of the PDP.

That decision was adopted based on a motion moved by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, LEO OGOR.
