Tension in PortHarcourt as APC,PDP supporters stage Rival Protest.

Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that the APC members mobilized for a demonstration to the State House of Assembly on Moscow Road to demand the inauguration of members of the party who won seats to represent their constituencies.

Supporters of the PDP also mobilized a parallel demonstration but our correspondent is yet to confirm their grievance.

The PDP supporters who had been mobilized from the twenty-three local government areas managed to overwhelm the security operatives and occupied the House of Assembly complex.

Our correspondent who was at the scene reports that the protest turned violent at some point after the PDP group broke the police barricade and dashed after the APC demonstrators.

It was gathered from the Caretaker Chairman of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government council, OSI OLISAH that the PDP supporters had embarked on a solidarity visit to the Speaker of the House of Assembly.

Also shedding light on the development today; the State Secretary of APC, EMEKA BEKEE who led the demonstration, said their mission was to show solidarity with APC members who were elected into the House of Assembly but are yet to be inaugurated to represent their constituencies.

it may interest you to note that two APC members who were elected into the Rivers State House of Assembly are yet to be sworn-in.

They are VICTORIA NYECHE of Port Harcourt State Constituency and ANDREW MILLER of Opobo-Nkoro State Constituency.
