Trouble started following the appointment of USMAN GUR MOHAMMED from the Africa Development Bank, as the interim Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TCN.

But that did not go down well with the workers under the umbrella of the National Association of Electricity and Allied Companies, who petitioned the Nigerian Senate.

When he appeared before the National Assembly Joint Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy, FASHOLA told the lawmakers that it was within the rights of President MUHAMMADU BUHARI to make such appointment.

The Minister also noted that the appointment of USMAN GUR MOHAMMED had nothing to do with a loan from the Africa Development bank to help reform the power sector.

He maintained that the appointment was made based on the expertise the new Managing Director is expected to bring on board.

The new management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria is also expected to ensure responsiveness to the needs of electricity distribution companies and the generation companies in the area of improved efficiency.
