The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji SA’AD ABUBAKAR was among those present, as well as the Ooni of Ife, ADEYEYE ENITAN OGUNWUSI, and the Amayanabo of Opobo and Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King DANDESON DOUGLAS JAJA.
Delivering a paper entitled “Poverty, National Security and Good Governance”, Sultan SA’AD ABUBAKAR highlighted the role of government on poverty alleviation.
Sultan ABUBAKAR stressed that traditional rulers have even greater responsibility to discharge towards addressing the needs of the people because of their closeness to those in need.
The Sultan of Sokoto stressed the need to reflect on the advancements in other parts, learning from their mistakes and building on achievements.
He equally challenged the traditional rulers to always support the government of the day to ensure the achievement of policies and programmes for the benefit of their people.
