Students Back Federal Government’s Proposed Drug Test for University Admissions

Students have welcomed the Federal Government’s proposed policy to subject prospective candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions to a drug integrity test.

At Rivers State University, many students expressed strong support for the initiative, saying it could help curb the rising rate of drug abuse on campuses and in the wider society. While several agreed the policy could serve as a deterrent, they also voiced concerns about the presence of drug peddlers within university environments.

They urged university authorities to take proactive measures to identify and eliminate the sale of drugs on campuses, warning that without such action, the effectiveness of the policy could be undermined.
