Stop meddling in National Security issues -Army warns Amnesty Intl.

The Military noted that the meddlesomeness by international nongovernmental organizations operating in Nigeria was inimical to national interest, cohesion and unity of the country.

In a statement released by the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier-General RABE ABUBAKAR, the military authorities noted that the activities of Amnesty International have shown that it does not mean well for Nigeria.

Brigadier-General ABUBAKAR said the position of the military is based on the lopsidedness of Amnesty International’s portrayal of Nigeria and for taking side with those it described as terrorists and belligerent groups to cause internal disorder.

The Military accused the group of making spurious allegation, especially without substantiated and cogent reason.

It said the incessant negative reports on Nigeria in general and the Armed Forces in particular should be condemned by all well meaning Nigerians.

The Military urged Nigerian citizens, its partners and international communities to continue to support ongoing efforts to free the country from the hands of criminal elements.

It said despite the activities of the United States-based group in fanning the ember of disunity, hate and destabilization, Nigeria would continue to remain united, strong and prosperous to take her rightful place in the comity of nations.
