Reacting to latest call for dialogue by President BUHARI with militant groups in the Niger Delta, the umbrella body of Niger Delta traditional rulers, leaders and stakeholders, said such call was misleading.
The Pan-Niger Delta Forum said President BUHARI cannot be making further calls for dialogue when he already has a list demands before him to kick-start such dialogue.
Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong VICTOR ATTAH who is the Co-Chairman of PANDEF, told reporters that Niger Delta militants had since sheathed their swords for talks.
VICTOR ATTAH expressed shock that the President would make such statement as if he was unaware of the cessation of hostilities by militants.
He noted that PANDEF has the mandate of Niger Delta militants to dialogue and speak on their behalf, adding that the position has been made known to President BUHARI.
The former governor recalled that South-South leaders who met with President BUHARI in Abuja on 1st November.
He said the group expected that the President would have announced the Federal Government’s negotiation team, but regretted that he was yet to revert to them.
