State of emergency declared in regions in Italy hit by deadly earthquake on Wednesday.

Prime Minister MATTEO RENZI has also pledged about forty-two million pounds for rebuilding.

Reports say at least two hundred and sixty-seven people are now known to have died and four hundred others injured.

Meanwhile; hundreds of aftershocks have been slowing down efforts of some five thousand rescue workers.

A fresh magnitude four-point-seven tremor struck in the early hours of today, coming after another magnitude four point three tremor recorded yesterday afternoon.
