The stakeholders in an SOS letter to the governor signed by representatives of Ward Four, Tienabeso Horsfall, Ward Five, AWOYE AYIBO who is a former of member of PHALGA legislative council, Ward Six, Marcus Irimaka, Ward Seven, Christian Iminabo who is also the former deputy leader of PHALGA legislative council and Ward Twenty, represented by Elder statesman, Tonye Koko, described the act as not just disrespectful but distasteful.
They noted that the script making rounds do not represent the collective yearnings and interest of the people of the state constituency Two as such should be disregarded.
They further claimed that the intent of the letter by some groups to the Governor is to convey a message of disunity, ostracization and ethnic bigotry, whereas the reality on ground is different.
The letter maintained that PHALGA has a dynamic political arrangement for every electoral season, insisting that no one has ever been ostracized in political sharing formula, as it pertains state constituencies and the office of the chairman.
They explained that the position of the Mayor has always rotated amongst the two federal Constituencies and the position of the deputy Mayor has always been occupied by the Ijaws to promote equity and natural justice.
The letter noted that the agitation from some groups against the rotation of the chairmanship position between PHALGA federal constituencies One and Two is not only strange but self-serving, and further advised agitators to ignore the temptation of causing distraction to the State government but close ranks with other well-meaning Rivers people to support the governor.
