Spain’s Guardia Civil police arrested JOSEP MARIA JOVÉ, who is the Secretary-General of the Catalan vice presidency, amid rising tension in the region.
Reports say the economy, foreign affairs and presidency buildings were all targeted in the raid in the early hours of today, which comes eleven days before the referendum.
Catalan leaders condemned by the Madrid government as illegal, the President of the Catalan National Assembly, JORDI SÁNCHEZ, sent a message on Twitter, declaring that the time has come for a peaceful resistance to defend regional institutions.
