Spain Catalan Secession Bid exceed Deadline without Signing Requirement

The Spanish government has declared its intention to start suspending Catalonian autonomy on Saturday, just as the regional leader CARLES PUIGDEMONT threatened to declare independence.
The Spanish government said ministers would meet to activate Article 155 of the constitution, which allows the centre to take over running of the region.
However; Catalonia’s regional parliament would vote on independence to back a disputed referendum on 1st October.
PUIGDEMONT had signed an independence declaration in a follow-up to the outcome of a referendum on 1st October, but later suspended it, while calling for dialogue.
There are now widespread concerns about imminent chaos in the Catalan region if the authorities in Madrid tried to take direct control.
