South East Senators reject branding of IPOB

The federal lawmakers from the South East asked members of the IPOB to suspend all their activities and await the outcome of ongoing engagements with their counterparts in the National Assembly to address all issues at the heart of the pro-Biafra agitation.
Rising from a meeting, the South-East National Assembly Caucus condemned all acts of terrorism but noted that the case of IPOB’s branding as a terrorist organisation forecloses possible dialogue for peaceful resolution of the demands of the group.
The position of the group was contained in a communiqué jointly signed by the Chairman of Senate South-East Caucus, Senator ENYINAYYA ABARIBE and CHUKWUKA ONYEMA of the House of Representatives, which was seen by our correspondent, JAMES IGAH.
The National Assembly members from the South East called on the Federal Government to look into the problems that feeds the never ending agitation by youths of the south east and other geopolitical zones in the country.
They also condemned the use of hate speech and remarks by people to express their grievances, just as they affirmed their support for the unity of Nigeria, which is anchored on the principles of justice, equality and fairness to all parties in Nigeria.‎
