Hearing of the case is taking place at a court in the mining town of Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal province.
The vocal critic of President JACOB ZUMA is accused of inciting supporters of his Economic Freedom Fighters party to seize white-owned land.
The charges are the aftermath of a speech JULIUS MALEMA delivered in June when he reportedly said white people had no right to land in South Africa.
However; MALEMA described the charges as part of a ploy by prosecutors to arrest anyone demanding the removal from office of President JACOB ZUMA.
Impeachment calls against President ZUMA resounded last week over allegation of widespread corruption.
Meanwhile; the case against MALEMA has been adjourned to December 7.
