South African amputee athlete, OSCAR PISTORIUS, has been released from prison after serving less than one year of a five-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter involving his girlfriend, REEVA STEENKAMP. The Paralympic gold medalist is to complete the rest of his sentence under house arrest after he was released on parole. PISTORIUS was freed yesterday evening by the South African Department of Correctional Services to avoid a media rush on his anticipated release date today.
