Some residents of Rumuolumeni Community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have shut down operations of Avon Offshore Company located in the community.
Our correspondent gathered that aggrieved members of employment bureau in the community blocked the gate of the company, denying access to workers into the premises.
Speaking with our correspondent, the chairman of the employment Bureau in the community, BRAWN WORGWU alleged that the picketing was in response to the refusal by the company to comply with a memorandum of understanding reached before now.
WORGWU said the issue of graduate trainee and other entitlements have been neglected by the management of the company.
WORGWU told correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR that the paramount ruler of the community had earlier intervened in the matter but without any positive response.
He said the company will remain locked until their demands are met.
