The protest was called by the leadership of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People, MOSOP, but soon after the people gathered at the Nonwa junction in Tai Local Government Area, a detachment of soldiers were dispatched to stop them.
Environmental rights activist, FYNEFACE DUMNAMENE said information gathered from local contacts indicates that the soldiers fired live ammunition in a bid to disperse the protesters.
