Liverpool manager Arne Slot has dismissed calls from captain Virgil van Dijk for the club to sign another striker following their Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace.
Van Dijk had argued that the team needed an extra forward after the departures of Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez. But Slot said Liverpool already have enough attacking options, noting they scored two goals against Palace—more than in both league meetings last season.
The Dutch manager said his bigger concern is improving defensive consistency, which he admitted had not met the team’s standards during pre-season.
