Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman featured for Atletico Madrid as they played out a 2-2 draw against Villarreal in their La Liga clash on Sunday.
Lookman started the encounter but had a quiet outing as Atletico struggled to create clear-cut chances against a resilient Villarreal side.
The Nigerian international was substituted in the 79th minute, with Jose Gimenez coming on in his place.
Atletico took the lead through Marc Pubill, whose long-range effort put the hosts ahead before Villarreal levelled from the penalty spot through Gerard Moreno.
Villarreal regained the lead after another penalty, with Georges Mikautadze converting, while Atletico were reduced to 10 men following Robin Le Normand’s red card.
However, Giuliano Simeone rescued a point for Atletico with a late equaliser after a counter-attack, ensuring the hosts avoided defeat.
The result leaves Atletico with four points from their opening two league matches, while Lookman continues to adjust to his new role at the Madrid club.
