The host communities including those from Ogoniland, Bonny, Oyigbo and Abia State in a consultation forum protested against renewal of operational license of Shell for the oil well.
The paramount ruler of Eititioha-Owaza Community in Abia State, King OBIOMA NWORGU and the Paramount ruler of Ayama Community in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, King NNEOMA ADIELE who spoke at the meeting complained that host communities of the OML 11 have suffered so much in the hands of the multinational operating the facility.
King NWORGU and King ADIELE called on the federal government not to bother renewing the license of Shell but take over the facility which they claim will provide the opportunity for negotiations.
On his part, the National Coordinator of the Conscience of Ogoni People, Chief GANI TOPBA who threatened to shut down the facilities of OML 11, called for cooperation among host communities just as he appealed to the Federal Government to extent the cleanup exercise in Ogoniland to other part of host communities of OML 1.
