SERAP also urged them to quickly clarify if they have collected or currently collecting life pensions as former governors from their respective states.
The group said if the ex-governors are still collecting pensions, they should stop and return the pensions collected to the treasury.
In the letter dated 3 June 2023 and signed by SERAP’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, the organisation said the constitutional oath of office, under the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) requires the ex-governors to publicly reject and return any pensions.
There are fourteen former governors in the 10th Senate.
