The allegation was contained in a report by SERAP, entitled “From Darkness to Darkness”, with the subtitle: “How Nigerians are paying the Price for Corruption in the Electricity Sector.
According to the report; the eleven trillion naira represents public funds, private equity and social investment or divestments in the power sector.
The report was presented to the media by Professor YEMI OKE of the Faculty of Law at the University of Lagos, explaining that the country lost more megawatts in the post-privatisation era due to corruption and impunity.
It therefore called on the Nigerian authorities to undertake a thorough, impartial and transparent investigation to determine the reasons corruption charges were withdrawn, and to recover any corrupt funds.
