Senator Barinada Mpigi, who represented the Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, has died at the age of 64.
His death was confirmed on Thursday, February 19, 2026, following a brief illness.
Mpigi’s legislative career spanned more than a decade at the federal level, during which he played prominent roles in parliamentary activities. Until his death, he served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works, overseeing legislative supervision of federal road infrastructure and other public works projects.
