Senate probes alleged three billion naira fraud in NPA.

Senator OVIE OMO-AGEGE, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, made the allegation in a motion raised under a Point of Order.

The Delta State Senator alleged that the fraud was in connection with the activities of the Joint Venture Enterprises of the NPA, including the Lagos Channel Management, Bonny Channel Company, and the Calabar Channel Management Company Limited.

Senator OMO-AGEGE said although the companies were conceived to operate on the basis of public-private partnership and to reduce financial burden on the Federal Government, the NPA has allegedly expended over three billion US dollars on the enterprises since 2005.

In his intervention; the Senate President BUKOLA SARAKI, directed that the Senate Committee on Marine Transport to look into the claims and report back to plenary next week.
