Members of the Senate Committee confronted retired Colonel HAMEED ALI on the issue during an interactive session.
The Chairman of the committee, Senator OBINNA OGBA, expressed dissatisfaction with the customs boss choice of wearing caftan since he was appointed in 2015.
However; Colonel HAMEED ALI explained that as retired military personnel, the tradition ?does not permit him to put on paramilitary uniform.
But ALI’s defence was quickly dismissed by another member of the Committee, Senator DINO MELAYE, who recalled that General HALIDU HANNANIYA of the Nigerian Army wore the uniform of the Federal Road Safety Corps when he was in charged as the Corps Marshal.
The Senators also questioned the customs boss over the recent dismissal of come officers and the delay in the composition of the Customs Board since 2015.
