Senate Gives NNPCL 21 Days to Explain ₦210 Trillion Financial Discrepancies

The Senate Committee on Public Accounts has given the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) a 21-day ultimatum to provide detailed explanations regarding financial discrepancies amounting to ₦210 trillion.

This directive was issued on Tuesday when the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPCL, Bayo Ojulari, appeared before the committee in response to an earlier summons. Ojulari pleaded for additional time to adequately respond, noting that he needed to thoroughly study and understand the concerns raised in the company’s audited financial statements from 2017 to 2023.

The committee, however, insisted that NNPCL must address the flagged issues within the given timeframe.
