Senate -Custom Faceoff: Presidency wades in.

There is yet no official statement confirming the involvement of the Presidency, but speculation is being sustained by a meeting between the Comptroller General of Customs, HAMEED ALI, with the Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI and the Senate Leader, AHMED LAWAN.

This comes after the Senate yesterday adopted a third resolution in a series, insisting that retired Colonel HAMEED ALI, must appear before the Chamber in plenary today in his official customs uniform to explain the now controversial policy.

At the end of plenary yesterday; the Senate spokesman, Senator ABDULLAHI SABI, told newsmen that the upper chamber of the National Assembly would not support any policy by the Executive that would infringe on the welfare and security of Nigerians.

He said the Nigerian Customs was being run in a way that Nigerians are being made to pay for their inefficiency.

Meanwhile; President BUHARI yesterday held a meeting with the Senate President BUKOLA SARAKI and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, YAKUBU DOGARA at the State House in Abuja.

However; there are no details about what was discussed by the President and the Leadership of the National Assembly.
