From the usual Eagle Square in Abuja, the Senate intends for future presidential inaugurations to be done within the precinct of the National Assembly.
The Bill was sponsored by the Deputy Senate President, Senator IKE EKWEREMADU and enjoyed massive support from other Senators who were present during plenary.
Leading the debate on the general principles of the bill, Senator EKWEREMADU said the move is in line with what is obtained in the United States of America and many other democracies.
Senator ELWEREMADU said the bill would foster unity among the three arms of government in Nigeria.
Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that after the debate, the bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Special Duties for further legislative actions and to report back in four weeks.
