Yahaya’s confirmation followed the presentation and consideration of the report of the Joint Senate Committee on Defence and Army at plenary which was presented by the chairman, Senator Aliyu Wamakko.
Major General Yahaya was appointed as the acting Chief of Army Staff, following the death of his predecessor, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, who died in a military plane crash in Kaduna.
