The resolution of the Senate followed a motion sponsored by Senator representing Borno South and Chairman of the committee on Army, Ali Ndume.
Senator Francis Fadahunsi representing Osun East Senatorial District in an amended resolution in the motion earlier moved by Senator Ndume, demanded that the Service Chiefs should step down.
Senator Betty Apiafi of Rivers South Senatorial district seconded the motion and it was upheld by the Senate President.
It would interest you to know that the Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Olonisakin, Tukur Burutai, Chief of Army Staff; Sadique Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff; and Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, Chief of Naval Staff; are all due for retirement.
Reacting to the call, President Buhari said he has noted the resolution of the Senate asking Service Chiefs to resign or be sacked.
The Presidency in a reaction by its Spokesperson, Femi Adesina therefore, reiterated that appointment or sack of Service Chiefs is a Presidential prerogative, and the Commander-in-Chief will do the best for the country at all times
