Senator JANG had asked the court to determine whether the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by Governor LALONG can entertain and determine any memorandum or petition bordering on criminal allegations, imputations or inferences.
The immediate past governor also wanted the court to prevent the state government from publishing the recommendations of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry as well as to issue an order of perpetual injunction restraining the Governor and the State Government from using any evidence of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into activities of the state government between 2007 and 2015.
In his Judgment, Justice PIUS DAMULAK dismissed the case on grounds that Governor LALONG has powers to investigate any matter in any department or agency of the state, according to Laws of Northern Nigeria.
Justice DAMULAK also awarded a total of three point four million naira in cost against Senator JANG, in favour of Governor LALONG, the Plateau State Government, the State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, as well as members of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry.
