Security Operatives raid peace corps ,seals offices.

They also arrested the Leader of Peace Corps of Nigeria, AKOR DICKSON, and forty-nine others, who are now being investigated for onwards arraigned in court.

 

 

The joint security operations is also expected to be implemented across the country to halt the illegal activities of all proscribed illegal security outfits, including Nigerian Maritime Security Agency, Nigerian Merchant Navy Corps and the Nigerian Merchant Navy Petroleum Security and Safety.

 

 

Therefore, the Police High Command has urged parents and guardians to prevail on their children and wards to return home from the illegal military camps opened in some states by the Peace Corps of Nigeria.

 

The Inspector General of Police, IBRAHIM IDRIS, who confirmed the development, said the Peace Corps of Nigeria had deviated from the mandate for which it was registered as a nongovernmental organization.

 

 

IGP IDRIS said the Peace Corps of Nigeria under the leadership of AKOR DICKSON had set up what he described as illegal training camps in some states of the federation, where he said thousands of persons without proper background check and screening were receiving convert military training.

 

 

The Police Chief said credible intelligence indicates that certain subversive elements and groups, including terrorist affiliates, have infiltrated the Peace Corps of Nigeria in a bid to destroy the peace currently being enjoyed in the country.

 

 

Following the development; IGP IBRAHIM IDRIS disclosed that the Peace Corps of Nigeria’s secret training camps have also been closed down in the Federal Capital Territory, as well as Kwara and Niger states.

 

 

 

IBRAHIM IDRIS also said preliminary investigation into the activities of the Peace Corps of Nigeria shows that the organization was also involved in extortion in the enrolment of individuals under the guise of recruitment.

 

 

IGP IDRIS noted that the Peace Corps of Nigeria has unlawfully turned itself into a security outfit without authorization and establishment by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

 

 

He also said members of the Corps have no legal authority to wear uniform, parade as security personnel, perform guard duties, or use the ranking, insignia, badges of rank which are semblance of that of the Police, Military and other paramilitary organizations without the approval of the Federal Government.
