The meeting was held at the instance of the Director General of the Department of State Service, LAWAL DAURA, with the Acting Inspector General of Police, IBRAHIM IDRIS in attendance.
Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE was also in attendance at the meeting, as well as the former governor of the state and Minister of Transport, ROTIMI AMAECHI.
An informed source told our correspondent that the APC Governorship candidate for the 2015 general election, DAKUKU PETERSIDE who is now the Director General of NIMASA also attended the meeting.
The roll call of participants also includes the APC candidate for Rivers South East Senatorial District, Senator MAGNUS ABE who later confirmed the development in a telephone interview with our correspondent.
Speaking further, Senator MAGNUS ABE expressed confidence in the resolutions adopted at the high profile security meeting, which is the is the first of its kind towards addressing the problem of insecurity in Rivers State.
However; it is not clear how much of the decisions of the security meeting on Rivers State would be binding on the Independent National Electoral Commission in the conduct of the forthcoming rerun elections.
Meanwhile; at the end of the meeting; the participants came together for a group photograph, while the Police High Command is expected to issue a statement on the resolutions that were adopted.
The security meeting comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission announced the postponement of the rescheduled rerun elections from this Saturday.
INEC said it took the decision because of security concerns, particularly the suspected arson attack last Friday on its office in Bori, the headquarters of Khana Local Government Area.
