The security personnel attached to the Operation Delta Safe, who gave his name as EMMA, said the victims whose corpses were recovered were yet to be identified.
Our source said security operatives had sighted a boat with some unknown persons from a distance towing another boat that appeared to be empty but on getting closer they discovered the eleven dead bodies and one AK–47 rifle.
A Chief from the community who also confirmed the incident noted that the security operatives tried to approach the suspected sea pirates when the fled from the scene.
In a related development, security operatives have smashed a kidnappers den around Akada area of Elele community in Ikwerre local government area of the state.
A source in the area, who confirmed the development said two of the gang members, CHIDI AMAECHI who is popularly called PEPPER, and OYENMA ANIAH known as OTEGA, were shot dead during the crossfire, while an AK47 and locally fabricated pistol were recovered.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP NNAMDI OMONI could not confirm the reports but promised to investigate.
