Secondus through his Counsel, Payo Oyetubo is asking the court to suspend the October, 30th and 31st National Convention of the PDP and allow him the right to preside over the convention.
Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that when the matter was mentioned in court, six other members of the People’s Democratic Party drew the attention of the court on their application for joinder which was not opposed by counsel to Secondus and were subsequently granted leave to join by the three man appeal panel.
The defendants Counsel including those who joined in the suit however opposed to the motion for Interim injunction by plaintiffs’ counsel seeking to stop the PDP forthcoming National Convention and asked for time to respond to the process.
The three man appeal panel led by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani after listening to the arguments from the parties, ordered counsel to the plaintiff to serve the process to the defendants Counsel within twenty-four hours while respondents counsels has twenty four hours to respond before adjourning to 28th of October, for hearing and possible ruling on the motion.
Speaking to newsmen outside of courtroom, counsel to Prince Uche Secondus, Payo Oyetubo who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria explained in details what transpired in court especially on the reason why the court adjourned till Thursday this week.
While counsel to the defendants who are mainly Senior Advocates of Nigeria declined comment on the court proceedings, a Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, Samuel Wanosike said they are pleased with the decision of the court Justice will be served in the matter.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the PDP convention planning committee and Governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri says, if the court rules in favour of Uche Secondus, the highest decision making body of the party will meet to take the next step.
